Anderson has announced the hiring of Steve Barrows as head football coach and instructor of physical education. Barrows previously served as an instructor and offensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator at Bethany (Kan.) from 1996 to the present.

Barrows' offense was ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in total offense (517 yards per game), passing offense (364 yards per game), and scoring offense (48.8 points per game) in his first season there in 1996. The Swedes compiled a 21-7 cumulative record during his three seasons at Bethany.

Prior to his tenure at Bethany, he was a member of the coaching staff at Minnesota-Morris from 1994-95 as the defensive coordinator and interim head coach.

"Steve has experience at every level of football coaching," Anderson athletic director said Barrett Bates. "I have been impressed with Steve's organization, which includes personalizing the football staff handbook and recruiting procedures. From his experience at Bethany, with 24-consecutive winning seasons, it is evident he knows how to recruit and what it will take to win at the NCAA Division III level."
