Box Score
ALPINE, Texas – It's become almost passé. The Louisiana College football team takes the field, gets into a high-scoring game and has a player set a new record along the way. The only variable has been wins and losses.

Saturday in West Texas, the Wildcats improved to 4-3 overall and 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play with a 56-46 win over Sul Ross State.

As has been the case in virtually every game for the Wildcats, an offensive player set a new record.
This week it was senior receiver Jordan Rideaux (Carencro, La./Carencro), who caught 11 passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns (15, 13, 25) in the win.

Rideaux, already school's career record holder in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, became the school's all-time scoring record holder and all-time total touchdowns leader.

His three touchdowns gave Rideaux 202 career points, 12 more than former record holder Nathan Furlow, a kicker and receiver in the early 2000's for the Wildcats.

Those same three touchdowns gave Rideaux 33 total for his career and broke a total-touchdowns tie with recent Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame inductee and running back Wayne Davis.
In a game in which defense was at a premium, the Wildcats needed all the offense they could get.

Luckily, senior quarterback Ben McLaughlin and the LC offense delivered to the tune of 576 yards of total offense (391 passing and 185 rushing).

McLaughlin (Dierks, Ark./Dierks HS), who last week became the all-time passing leader in the American Southwest Conference, made more history this week and completed 26 of his 37 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns.

His final touchdown completion, a 34-yard hookup with Justin Usey (Belle Chasse, La./Belle Chasse HS) gave the senior 100 passing touchdowns for his career.

Sul Ross was nearly as impressive with 476 total yards (372 passing and 104 rushing) and Lobos quarterback Monte Morales kept pace with McLaughlin, complting 26 of his 42 passes for 372 yards and four touchdowns. He was, however intercepted once by LC sophomore safety Reggie Calhoun (New Orleans, La./Slidell HS).

Rideaux finished as the Wildcat, and the game's top receiver, but three other players, one Wildcat and two Lobos, eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark.

LC junior Darnell Williams (Gulfport, Miss./Trinity Valley CC) caught six passes for 132 yards while Sul Ross' Lee Carothers caught five passes for 118 yards and one score and BJ Vickers three passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

In the rushing department, the Wildcats had one of their top efforts of the year with redshirt freshman CerDerrick Tyson(Shreveport, La./Evangel/La. Tech) rushing 18 times for 112 yards and a touchdown to become just the second LC player this season to rush for more than 100 yards in a contest.
Senior Chad Hindman (Slidell, La./Pope John Paul II) was also productive, scoring three touchdowns on 10 rushes for 64 yards.

Sul Ross' leading rusher was Morales, who rushed nine times for 75 yards and one score.

Hindman scored the game's first two touchdowns on runs of 10 and seven yards to give LC a 14-0 lead before Carothers hauled in a 42-yard touchdown pass from Morales.

McLaughlin and Rideaux then hooked up in the second quarter for a 15-yard score to extend the Wildcats' lead to 21-7.

Morales found Vickers for a 20-yard score to bring the Lobos to within 21-14 of the lead but Tyson struck pay dirt on a nine-yard run to push LC's advantage back to two touchdowns, 28-14.

Prior to the half, though, Sul Ross' Brian Basquez connected on a 37-yard field goal to send the game to the break with the Lobos trailing 28-17.

In the third quarter, back-and-forth between the teams continued with Rideaux catching a 13-yard touchdown pass from Rideaux and Jesse Gonzales grabbing a six-yard touchdown reception.

The result was a 35-14 advantage for the Wildcats.

LC would rattle off three consecutive touchdowns – a one-yard run by Hindman, a 25-yard reception by Rideaux and a 34-yard catch by Usey – to take a 56-24 lead then hold off a furious comeback attempt by the Lobos to seal the win.
