BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard football team returns to the road this weekend when it heads to Fayetteville to take on Methodist University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Tornados (2-4) are fresh off a 21-14 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg that came in their Oct. 7 Homecoming contest. Brevard is looking to win back-to-back games for the first time in its NCAA history since it downed Johnson C. Smith and Southern Virginia in September 2010. Those victories also marked the last time that the Tornados won multiple road contests in the same campaign.

The triumph over Virginia-Lynchburg last weekend was a two-pronged victory for the Tornados. On one hand it snapped a 16-game losing skid in October, which began with a 43-24 victory by Wingate on Oct. 19, 2013. It also marked the second time that Brevard has opened October play with a win, which previously took place on Oct. 1, 2011, when the Tornados downed Tusculum 41-24.

Junior quarterback O'Shay Carter was key in the win over the Dragons and became the first Brevard quarterback in its 11-year NCAA program history to pass for at least 100 yards in five straight contests. Carter led the way with three touchdowns and 273 yards passing by virtue of a 25-for-36 performance. He became the third Brevard quarterback, since the team moved to the NCAA ranks in 2007, to have at least two multi-TD passing performances in the same season. The others were Kye Hamilton in 2008 and Aaron Reese in 2011.

Bubba Craven was also an instrumental cog in the Brevard offense a week ago, which tallied 271 total yards in the contest, as he hauled in eight catches for 112 yards and a pair of scores. Craven became the first receiver since 2007 to have two games in which he caught at least two touchdowns.

Methodist (1-4) also enters the game coming off a victory, after downing Greensboro 41-16 last weekend. Among the offensive leaders for the Monarchs include E'Monte Dears (404 yards rushing), Steve Keoni (795 passing yards) and Dylan Cummings (261 yards receiving).

Dears ranks fourth in the USA South in rushing, while Keoni is second in passing, after completing 52-of-95 (54.7%) of his passes for 604 yards against league opponents. His prime target, Cummings, is ranked third in the conference in receiving yards (232) at 77.3 yards per contest.
