Pat Coleman
Year: 1994
College: Catholic
Title: Executive Editor

Pat Coleman has been following Division III football since the early '90s, ever since the likes of Duquesne, Iona and Georgetown played D-III. He's a 1994 graduate of a Division III school -- Catholic University in Washington, D.C. -- and has been in and (now seemingly permanently) out of the Sports Information biz ever since, as both full-time and interim SID at multiple area institutions.

The other schools he applied to besides Catholic? All D-IIIs: St. John's, Macalester and Oberlin.

Pat has written about Division III football in USA Today and has made multiple broadcast appearances talking about Division III football on ESPN, including an edition of Outside the Lines in February 2010, before Pierre Garcon and the Indianapolis Colts played in the Super Bowl. He and Keith McMillan have broadcast every Stagg Bowl since 1999 on the Internet.

In June 2013, Pat received the Jake Wade Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the media to the field of intercollegiate athletics. Previous winners include Keith Jackson, Dick Enberg, Billy Packer and Robin Roberts.

Pat is a member of the Football Writers Association of America.

During the day he's Social Media Manager at a global water-management company. He spent two decades as a journalist by day (and night, sometimes) as deputy managing editor for Verizon Headlines, copy desk chief at NBCSports.com and for more than a decade at USA Today. He and his wife Cate have three children: Keaton, Robert and Colleen. He returned to his home state of Minnesota in 2008 after nearly two decades in the Washington area.
