Nearly a miracle

With time running down and Concordia-Moorhead trailing, Michael Herzog hit Nick Anderson, who shoveled it to Jason Montoye to take it the rest of the way to the end zone with 29 seconds left to give Concordia a 20-16 lead vs. No. 4 St. Thomas. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week. (And St. Thomas' response is also below.)

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 6 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Consider this the response to the Play of the Week. Nick Waldvogel hauls in this 21-yard touchdown catch with just two seconds left in the game to lift St. Thomas to a 23-20 win vs. Concordia in Moorhead.

Fan vote winner: Jake O'Connell returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, helping the Golden Eagles to a 35-28 victory over Utica. It was his first career pick-six.

Watch Case Western Reserve punter (ok, also a running back) Jacob Burke go 32 yards on a fake punt to pick up a first down for the Spartans. Bet the special teams players for Bethany didn't expect to see the punter run someone over!

Eddie Trimpert’s wild scramble reached the end zone with 20 seconds left to give RPI a 21-17 win vs. No. 22 Hobart. The win gives RPI the edge in the all-time series, 30-29.
