Kick save gets season started off right

Rhodes receiver Brandon Box comes up with the catch off the deflection off the foot of Willamette's Nick Brickous and keeps the drive alive, leading to a game-clinching TD. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 1 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Trailing 49-48 at Whitworth in the first overtime, Central rolled the dice and went for a 2-point conversion. Kohle Helle took his first snap of the first game and rolled right looking to pass before diving across the pylon for the 50-49 win. This was the favorite of the fan vote and a very close second for the week!

Justus Drakeford took Christopher Newport from potentially trailing at half to being up by two scores as his interception return for a touchdown put CNU up 16-7 vs. Kean on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016.

Case Western Reserve's Justin Phan returns a punt 85 yards for a touchdown, giving the Spartans a 21-3 lead and putting the game out of reach for the University of Chicago. The Maroons never got closer than two scores the rest of the way in a 45-17 win.

Jayson Leigh reaches up and intercepts a Cory Benedetto pass and races 36 yards for the TD. It was one of three interceptions on the night as St. Lawrence opened the season with a 28-0 win over Morrisville.
