Big pick puts opponent on edge

More news about: Christopher Newport

When you're reduced to playing spoiler, then the best thing to do is embrace the role and give it your best shot. In Christopher Newport's case, the Captains were trying to end a six-game losing streak, and Mic Edwards got up to make sure that Salisbury couldn't get back into the game. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 9 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Jamarkis Holmes hits the pile but squirts out before he gets wrapped up and finishes a 30-yard run to the end zone to give LaGrange a 21-14 lead. Maryville went on to win 38-31.

Wooster's Derrick Florence II spun out of a tackle and returned Kenyon's kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter, firmly cementing this game as a back-and-forth battle which Wooster eventually won 49-42.

Jessie Ramos gets behind the defense and it's all she wrote as he scored on a 57-yard touchdown pass with 3:12 left to lift Hardin-Simmons past Mary Hardin-Baylor 29-26.

Hamline and St. Olaf went back and forth a couple of times on Saturday, but watch here as Jamian Maes fights off the defender to bring in a 20-yard TD pass from Justice Spriggs with 20 seconds left in a 31-30 win.
