The interception return that wasn't

More news about: Wesley

If you're up by four touchdowns in the fourth quarter and have a pass deflected into the hands of a defender, you might be willing to chalk it up and play the next possession. Wesley quarterback Joe Callahan wasn't, and he tracked down the return man to make sure he got his ball back. That's what makes it the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 6 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Jack Reilly steps in front of a WPI pass and intercepts it, making multiple tacklers miss on his way to the end zone for a 73-yard touchdown. Andrew Santillo and Tom Santa Barbara on the call.

Rose-Hulman tight end Joe Moehrle majors in mechanical engineering, so maybe aerospace engineering is in his future. Watch him take off and go over the top into the end zone for a touchdown in RHIT's win vs. Bluffton.

Bluffton was pretty good in that game as well. Here receiver Lorenzo McLaurin hauls in a 10-yard touchdown reception by trapping the ball on the defender's back.

Shawn Miller set the tone for a defensive struggle early on, returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown less than four minutes into the game, one which Delaware Valley won 18-15 vs. Stevenson.
