Maybe the Piesman Trophy folks will come calling on this one -- that's the new award out there for offensive linemen doing distinctly non-offensive linemen-type things and Gettysburg left tackle Pierce Frauenheim qualifies after Saturday. He took a lateral from quarterback Sam McDermott and 32 yards later, rumbled into the end zone with the touchdown. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week.

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:
Dillon Villhauer ran the punt back 75 yards to the end zone and the extra point tied the score at 28-28 with 2:38 to play. Wally Trouten and Steve Prestegard on the call. UW-Platteville entered the fourth quarter trailing 28-7 and scored the last 28 points to win in OT. |
Now everyone in D-III is working on the high hurdles. Texas Lutheran running back Marquis Barrolle hurdles a Louisiana College defender to score on an 11-yard reception from Trenton White. |
Guilford's Matt Pawlowski underthrew a pass towards receiver Daniel Woodruff near the goal line with less than a minute before halftime, but Woodruff could only tip it. Defender Jamal Forney also batted at the ball, which gave Adam Smith the chance to swoop in and unexpectedly snare his third receiving score of the game. |
Looking at the final play of the half, DePauw quarterback Matt Hunt drops backs to pass, absorbs a face mask from a Wooster defender, then recovers to run 24 yards to the end zone for a touchdown. Robert Sherman and Jeff Collins on the call for WGRE. DePauw went on to win, 49-20. |
