History repeating

More news about: Rhodes

When Rhodes blocked a Hendrix punt and returned it for a touchdown for its first score of the game, it was a pretty impressive play. But that wasn't the play of the week. What happened later was: It's the D3football.com Play of the Week, sponsored by the City of Salem, hosts of Stagg Bowl XLII.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 10 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

  • Widener safety Sean Titus takes the ball right off of a King's receiver for an interception, then runs 96 yards untouched for a touchdown in the Pride's rout of the Monarchs. Watch
  • It's a trick play gone awry, as Howard Payne's halfback option pass ends up getting read perfectly by Mary Hardin-Baylor defensive back Eric Allen, who returns it 100 yards for a touchdown. Watch
  • Remember to play to the whistle! Emory and Henry intercepted one of six passes on the day on a broken play, as Roth Healey stepped picked off the pass and returned it 39 yards to the one-foot line. The Wasps took a 28-0 lead on Shenandoah two plays later. Watch
